Election Voting Procedure

Election Voting Procedure

Citizens 18 years and above must have a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to be eligible as a voter in any election.

On election day, accreditation and voting begin simultaneously at 8:30am and close at 2:30pm. All voters already on the queue as at 2:30pm shall be accredited and allowed to vote. The Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used in accreditation of registered voters by finger print and facials. On election day you can view real time results from polling units on the INEC portal.

Election is a civic responsibility

STEP 01

At the Polling Unit, check to confirm your name on the voter register pasted at the PU to ensure that you are at the correct PU. You can only vote in the PU where your name falls within.

STEP 02

Join the queue for accreditation once you confirm you are in the correct Polling Unit. An INEC official will accredit you using the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) by finger print and/or facials.

STEP: 03

Once accredited by the INEC official your name will be ticked on the voter register and your finger inked to confirm you have voted. A stamped, signed and endorsed ballot paper rolled with the printed side inwards will be given to you. You will be directed to the voting cubicle to enable you to cast your vote. If your name is not found you cannot vote.

STEP: 04

Voting ink is available at the cubicle, stain your thumb with the ink and place it in the plain box in front of the party logo you are voting for your preferred candidate. Do not allow the ink to spill across the line of another party to validate your vote. Ensure the ink is dry and fold the ballot paper accordingly.

STEP: 05

Leave the voting cubicle and drop the ballot paper in the ballot box provided at the Polling Unit.

STEP: 06

Leave the Polling Unit (PU) after voting, or keep a distance from the PU in an orderly manner if you choose to wait till the voting process is over and election results declared.
