CANDIDATE INFORMATION
BSIEC provides guidelines and requirements for individuals seeking to run for office in local government elections.
Candidate Nomination
Procedures
- Expression of Interest: Individuals interested in running for office must first express their interest to their political party. Parties typically set a deadline for the submission of expression of interest forms.
- Screening: Political parties conduct a screening process to verify the eligibility of candidates. This process may include background checks, verification of qualifications, and assessment of the candidate’s suitability for office.
- Nomination Form: Candidates who pass the screening process are issued a nomination form by their party. The form must be completed and submitted along with any required documents and fees.
